Crello has 29 different formats for any project but if you embarked on a creative journey for something a little more ambitious and your format isn’t there, you can simply create your own. Using Crello’s custom dimensions option allows you to create any design, for any project.
Today we’ll be showing you how easy it is to create your very own book cover. The standard size of a book cover is 6 x 9 inches, or 15.24 x 22.86cm. Remember to check the exact measurements you need before starting your project.
How to create a book cover in Crello
Step 1: Go to www.crello.com
Sign in or click ‘Create a design’ to get to the homepage. In the main menu with all the formats, you will see this blue window that says ‘Custom Dimensions’.
Step 2: Type in your dimensions
Simply type in your dimensions in inches, centimeters or pixels. The size for our book cover will be 1748 x 2480 pixels.
Step 3: Start with a canvas
You will be taken to the page with your blank canvas.
Step 4: Upload your photos
If you have photographs that you’d like to use in this project, simply click on the ‘Uploads’ tab and then ‘Upload Image’ to upload your photos. If you don’t have an image, you can head over to the ‘Photos’ tab and search for images there.
Step 5: Adding the image to your canvas
Simply click on the image and it will appear on your canvas.
Step 6: Stretch image to fit the canvas
Stretch your image by using the pointers on the sides. Position your image how you would like it to be cropped on your book cover. Adjust the settings such as brightness, contrast and saturation as you’d like. For this image, we used the Nordic filter.
Step 7: Adding fonts
To start adding writing, go to the ‘Texts’ Tab and click the headings option.
Step 8: Adjusting font style
Your title will appear on the canvas. Go to ‘Text Options’ and choose a font that will be fitting for your cover. Use the guidelines to center your text on canvas.
Step 9: Add final text and name the file
For our book cover, we added the title, author and snippet preview at the bottom. Remember to name your file before you download it. Click on ‘Untitled design’ at the top and type in your file name. This will help you manage your saved files.
Step 10: Download your cover
Click on the ‘Download’ button at the top left corner. Choose the format you need.
Your image will start downloading shortly.
