In the third part of our IGTV series we are creating our own channel and testing out the tool for ourselves. Follow our IGTV journey and explore the platform along with Crello.

Review part 2: Successful brands using IGTV
Creating our channel
To create our channel, we:
- found the IGTV button in the top left corner of our Instagram feed (screen 1),
- clicked the settings wheel (screen 2),
- and hit the Create Channel button (screen 3).
The channel has the same name, description and profile picture as our Instagram:
As you already know from our previous posts in the IGTV series, video for the platform has to be vertical.
We came up with a short script for our design team to produce.
Here’s how we uploaded our first IGTV post:
- clicked the + to start the upload and selected our video,
- waited for the video to process,
- selected a cover.
We’ve deliberately included a shot that would make our video cover in the clip, but uploading a cover to IGTV is also an option.
As soon as we uploaded our video, Crello IGTV was live.
It’s featured next to Highlights:
It also appears in the web version:
Promoting our post
What about feed and Story sharing, you ask?
Well, looks like we did not think this through.
To share an IGTV post to feed, you need a clip that’s over 60 seconds long.
While we are already working on a longer video to text the feed preview out, let’s share our IGTV post in a Story.
First, we tap the paper airplane icon at the bottom of our IGTV post (screen 1), then select ‘Add video to your story’ option (screen 2), and finally tap Your Story to post the preview (screen 3):
In order to watch the IGTV post, our viewers need to tap the Story and go to IGTV:
Our IGTV experiment has just begun, but here are the key lessons we’ve learned:
- IGTV is super easy and intuitive to use
- Uploading is fast and simple
- Thinking up ideas for vertical video content is something new and makes for a fun mental exercise;)
As of this writing, our IGTV post has 39 views and 2 comments. We blame it on lack of feed preview – almost all brands featured in part 2 of our IGTV series used feed previews to promote IGTV posts.
While we haven’t experienced wild success with IGTV yet, we stay optimistic. Stay tuned for a longer IGTV post from Crello with a feed preview this time:)
