Looking for ideas
Crello Inspiration section is designed to help you find relevant designs without browsing. It contains:
- designs for upcoming holidays and events
- seasonal designs
- newest templates
The Inspiration section is shown at the bottom of Crello main page and on a separate page https://crello.com/inspiration/.
Here’s where you can find it on the homepage:
To open Inspiration page, click View More Designs:
You will be taken to the Inspiration page:
You can create a design in Crello in any dimensions between 3,000 by 3,000 pixels, but the template collection is limited to 40 formats.
To browse templates by format, go to homepage, click View All 40 Formats and then choose the one you need:
All formats page:
Picking templates by format is convenient when you don’t want to look up the exact dimensions of an Instagram or Twitter post or, even more tedious, a YouTube channel cover.
Crello’s formats are divided into 7 categories:
- Animated (includes HD video)
- Social media posts
- Covers and headers (social media and blogs, also includes multi-page ebook designs)
- Marketing materials (posters, multi-page presentations, flyers, gift certificates)
- Events (postcard, invitation, business card)
- Advertising (Twitter and Facebook ads, web ad formats)
Once you click on your desired format, you are taken to your Crello cabinet, where you can browse templates:
Alternatively, use search to find a specific type of template:
Another way to find the right template is https://crello.com/templates:
Adding your text
Once you pick the template you like, start by adding your own text:
You can change the color of shapes in the design and your text font, as well as size, transparency and orientation:
Depending on how many changes you want to introduce to your chosen template, you might want to switch out the preset photo with one of Crello stock collection or upload your own.
For stock photos, go to the Photos tab and browse free or stock photos by category or manually:
You can also go to the Search tab and choose Photos in the drop-down menu to look for a specific image:
To upload your own image, use My Files > Upload Image:
To add a photo to your design, just drag and drop in into place:
If you want to change the colors within a template, just select the elements you want to change and switch the color:
You can also insert a hex code of your desired color in the Custom tab of the Object Colors menu:
Changing item size
If you want to adjust the size of any template elements or their location within the design, just select the item and drag it by the corners for a size change and drag the whole item to change its location within the design:
When you are adding your own text or changing the size or location of design elements, they can become misaligned.
Drag your item around the design until magenta alignment lines appear to indicate your item is aligned with the surrounding elements or central points of the template:
If you feel your design is missing something, want to add a particular item or removed some of the template’s original shapes and want to replace them, use the Objects tab.
Crello Objects include:
- shapes (free)
- icons (some are free, others – free within Advanced and PRO plans, $0.99 within Basic plan)
- illustrations (some are free, others – free within Advanced and PRO plans, $0.99 within Basic plan)
- lines (free)
- borders (free)
- stickers (free)
- frames (free)
Move your object to the desired location within your design, change its size, orientation, color, transparency and more, as necessary.
Here we decided to try the Photo Frame effect:
These are the steps the process involved:
- First, we removed our illustration and moved text and background pink circle to the side.
- Next, we went to the tab Objects > Frames.
- We selected our desired element – a round photo frame.
- Then, we went back to the Photos tab to find our tomato photo illustration and dragged and dropped it into the Photo Frame.
- Finally, we moved our text and background pink circles back into place (in hindsight, we probably should’ve grouped the text and background circles using the Group button and then working with them as one item – dragging them out of the way and then back into place without having to realign each individual element).
To complete your work, look at any elements in the template that might feel out of place, unnecessary or misaligned.
For our design, we’ve designed to remove the second background image and flip the large pink triangle in the background both horizontally and vertically to place it in the opposite corner of the template:
Next, we hit Download and selected the file type we need our design in:
Here’s our final result:
You can also use the Share button to share your design on Facebook, send it directly to your Facebook Ads Manager if you are planning an ad campaign, get an embed link or share on Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest or Reddit.
You can also save the design in Crello and access it later.
Create folders to store and categorize your designs.
Go to Crello homepage and select My Projects menu option:
You’ll see the designs you’ve created that were saved automatically, as well as the ones you saved.
You can title the designs, create folders, copy the designs, go back to editing them or delete the ones you don’t need.
Beware that deleting a folder will delete all designs you’ve placed there.
